I run a service company and have to travel across India for providing services.

I am registered in Karnataka and have to frequently travel in Tamilnadu and other north Indian cities.

I pay hotel rent for staying in hotel rooms.

Hotels are charging GST on their room rent.

Can I take input tax credit of GST paid on hotel room rent for room used in other state?

In case of hotel always CGST and SGST will be charged.

You cannot input tax credit of CGST and SGST, if you are not registered in that particular state.

If hotel stay is for longer duration and amount is high, you can consider taking registration in that state as ISD or standalone registration.
