Majority of the countries in world have moved to GST.
Why USA does not have GST?
United States of America (USA) has a federal government with states having their own freedom to tax the goods.
As far as I understand, states charge sales tax and federal government charge income tax and they do not want to disturb their current federal structure of taxing the sales.
