2016 was all about Demonetization, 2017 was for reforms.

The biggest changes that took place in 2017 as per me are listed below. You can answer with you biggest observations for the year.

GST

Yes, the biggest positive event that took place was finally rollout of GST. GST was stuck from past decade and finally in 2017 we all witnessed rolling out of GST. Just like any big change, even GST roll out was not easy. Tax payers and government both are facing issues and which will continue for more time to come.

But, we should not forget that even developed country like Canada took 3 years to remove difficulties post GST implementation, compared to that India is faster.

New President

Yes we had a new president. This happens once in 5 years but what make this great is that, president is from backward class and now all major positions in India are handled by BJP or people influenced from BJP or RSS ideology.

All major decision makers are from same ideology and this should help in faster decision making.

GDP better than expected

Post demonetization everyone believed GDP will tank but though numbers are not at par with government projections but still better.

Demonetization and GST both major events took place within a gap of less than 10 months and still GDP looks strong.

Stock Market at life time high

Indian stock markets this year touched a life time high point and this shows the confidence investors have in present government and their policies.

Indian foreign relationship

India performed well at foreign grounds. May it be case of Doklam or case of Mr. Jadhav. India did its best and gained much respect in world communities.

Bust of Baba Business

We Indians are too easy to fool when it comes to religion. However this year we saw one of the most popular and with highest follower BABA going to jail.

This as per me will make people understand that believe in God but not in what god has created.

It is a pure business and nothing else.

Triple Talaq Bill

If we ignore politics, this bill seems to be logical.

Even Islamic countries like Pakistan have banned Triple Talaq. This will give Muslim women freedom and liberty.

This seems to be a major move towards one nation, one civil code.
