GST Practitioner Exam

GST practitioners need to pass an exam to continue their practice.

This exam is conducted by The National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN). As per provisions of GST acts, this examination is valid.

What is GST Practitioners Exam?

GST practitioners exam is a test to become eligible to practice as a GST practitioner. Exam for GST practitioners is conducted by The National Academy of Customs, Indirect Taxes and Narcotics (NACIN).

Who is eligible to appear for GST Practitioners Exam?

If you satisfy one of below conditions, you are eligible for writing exam and qualify as a GST practitioner. These conditions are in addition to registration as GSTP on GST portal.

  1. Retired from the Commercial Tax Department of the government of any State or CBEC. You worked in the post of a Group-B Gazetted officer for 2 years or more.
  2. Have taken enrollment as a sales tax practitioner or tax return preparer and worked as the same for more than 5 years.
  3. Have completed a graduate or post-graduate degree in any of the subjects like Law, Commerce, or Banking.  In order to qualify on the education ground, or have a foreign degree, which has the recognition from the Indian government as equivalent of its degrees. Alternatively, have completed the final examination of ICAI or ICSI or the Institute of Cost Accountants of India.

If you satisfy anyone condition from above list, then you are eligible to write GST Practitioners Exam.

GST Practitioners exam is online and marks details

The exam is conducted online. You can register for exam on examination portal. Fee for registration is Rs. 500.

Exam will be conducted in following languages:

  1. Hindi
  2. English

Question paper will be for 200 marks and passing marks are 100. You need to get at least 100 marks to pass the exam. there will be no negative marking. Total 100 questions will be asked in exam and these will be Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs).

Questions will be asked from GST Acts, Rules and notifications.

  1. Central Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017
  2. Integrated Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017
  3. State Goods and Services Tax Acts, 2017
  4. Union Territory Goods and Services Tax Act, 2017
  5. Goods and Services Tax (Compensation to States) Act, 2017
  6. Central Goods and Services Tax Rules, 2017
  7. Integrated Goods and Services Tax Rules, 2017
  8. All State Goods and Services Tax Rules, 2017
  9. Notifications, Circulars and orders issued from time to time

People are worried about this exam as exam dates are being rescheduled multiple times. I have seen many consultants and professionals are asking for books and question banks for preparation.

I'am trying to register on nacin website for GST practitioner exam, but the error coming in credentials do not match. My date of enrollment as GST practitioner is 08-10-2018 and date of Enrollment certificate is 12-11-2018. Please help me out and reach me on 9966829923
